Balancing Between Practitioner and Scholar
Ir. Hendarman, M.Sc., Ph.D, graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture majoring in Soil Science, IPB University in 1984. The man who was born in Tanjung Pinang, Bintan, in 1961 has a brilliant career, both in terms of being a practitioner and an academic. Now, he occupies a strategic position as Head of the Center for Character Strengthening Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology RI (Kemdikbud).
After completing his undergraduate education at IPB University, Hendraman took a master's degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA with the main interest in Continuing and Vocational Education and graduated in 1992 and earned an M.Sc. Then, he continued his doctoral education with the study of Science Education, Doctor of Philoshipy with a Pd.D degree at Curtin University of Technology and he graduated in 1999.
Being able to graduate from a prestigious university in Indonesia and abroad is very influential on his career path. He started his career in 2006 as Head of the Sub-Directorate of Program Governance, Dit. Training and Education Development at the Directorate General of Quality Improvement of Education and Education Personnel until 2008.
Then Hendraman was also trusted to be the Director of Institutions at the Directorate General of Higher Education from 2008 to 2010. His career continued to advance, he continued his career and earned a position as Head of the Research and Innovation Center for Educational Research and Development. In 2015, he was trusted to be the Head of the Center for Research on Education and Culture Policy.
In addition to a career in government, Hendraman is also active as a researcher at the Research and Development Agency, Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology. In addition, he continues to devote himself to educational institutions by becoming a lecturer at the University of Indonesia for the Masters (S2) program and at the Graduate School of Pakuan University as a non-permanent lecturer in the Education Management study program.
Apart from being a lecturer, Hendraman also writes for various national and international journals. In addition, he is diligent in presenting papers as a keynote speaker at various national and international seminars or workshops.
For his service, Hendraman received the Satyalancana Karya Satya XX in 2009 and the Satyalancana Karya Satya XXX in 2016. Currently, Hendraman is serving as Head of the Center for Character Strengthening of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Research and Technology.
