Building a Gas Stove Industry and Modern Avocado Plantation
Who doesn't know avocado? This fruit, which is identical with green and yellow flesh, is indeed a prima donna in Indonesia. In addition to its delicious taste, avocado also has many benefits. Among them to maintain weight, control blood pressure, to maintain heart health.
Eits, why are we discussing avocado this time? What's happening with this fruit? Calm down, because the character that will be discussed this time is related to a fruit that has a scientific name Persea americana.
The figure is Deny Sukmana, the man who has been in the avocado plantation business since 2018. He owns an avocado plantation called Superavo in the Subang area, West Java.
Subang was chosen as a gardening place because it is famous for its fertile area and the contours of the land are suitable for planting avocado trees. Superavo is the first modern avocado plantation in Indonesia with a variety of management and technology applied.
The man who was born in Pontianak in 1965 is not alone in managing the Superavo plantation. Assisted by his colleagues and employees, he manages an avocado plantation which covers an area of 150 ha. Not all of the land has been planted with avocados, it will take up to 3 more years to complete the planting period.
Deny told about his interest in doing business in agriculture. According to him, this field has bright future prospects. On that basis, he strongly believes that in the future Superavo will fill the post of food energy sources, especially in the aspect of fruits.
Long before starting a business in agriculture, Deny worked as an employee at a private bank for seven years from 1988 to 1995. After that, he ventured to open a business in the distribution of household appliances by direct selling for Java area.
The company is PT. Arga Arta Utama which started its business from 1995 until now with its main product being gas stoves. Now, he is still involved in the business unit, it's just that operational matters are left to professionals.
Looking back, Deny's business is in line with his scientific background from IPB University. He is a graduate of IPB University who majored in Social Economics, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, batch 21.
During his time as a student at IPB University, he gained a lot of experience and knowledge that encouraged him to start an agricultural business. More than that, Deny was very impressed with the system and also the learning at IPB University which forged him to be a person who is enthusiastic, persistent, and also diligent.
The thing that Deny remembers from his study at IPB University is the cohesiveness that is still awake. Even when he became an alumni, he still feels that cohesiveness. This is proven by the fact that he and his university friends are still active to meet and discuss at the Superavo Plantation.
The hard work and persistence that he applied at IPB University has encouraged him to take steps to start a business and become successful. Everything he does, of course, doesn't always run smoothly. But Deny continued to forge himself until he reached the point he is today.
Deny left a message to IPB University students who want to start their careers as entrepreneurs. He stated that there is nothing instant in building a career. Inevitably we have to work first in order to feel the atmosphere of a work environment.
“Once it feels mature enough to build a business, the things you must have are persistence and consistency. Other than that, sharing and asking for opinions from seniors who have jumped in first is one point that should not be abandoned. This is all done so that the business being carried out is not misguided and reaps success,” said Deny.
