Reflecting a Farmer's Determination as Strong as Rockwool Fiber
Indonesia's national market is still the basis of industry and sales in Southeast Asia. This is supported because government projects continue to focus on building power plants, infrastructure improvements, property growth, and airport construction.
In that case, a figure like Ivan Kuntara is present as one of the backbones for industrial growth in Indonesia. Through PT Nichias Rockwool Indonesia, Ivan wants to prove that the potential for rockwool production is still quite large, even capable of expanding beyond national needs.
Serving as Managing Director of PT Nichias Rockwool Indonesia, Ivan believes that Indonesia needs to start initiating rockwool production. The reason is that the use of rockwool in market needs such as industry will continue to increase as a substitute for similar commodities (glass wool) which is slowly being abandoned.
After officially became an alumnus of IPB University from the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Ivan really understands that rockwool is very possible to meet agricultural needs. The pH content of rockwool can help plants live in these commodities without the need for soil.
In addition, the use of rockwool is also able to isolate the heat in the ship's engine so that it does not spread into the cabin, including factories, airports, and cinemas to reduce the sound produced by engines, aircraft or cinema theaters.
Apparently, Ivan is a fast learner. Everything that he obtained during his education at IPB, he still continues to apply to provide benefits in everyday life.
Please note, rockwool is a heat-insulating material derived from inorganic spun fibers made from minerals or natural rocks that are melted at high temperatures to then be mixed with resin and exhaled with a certain pressure, so that the resulting fiber is called rockwool.
Thanks to Ivan's persistence as a farmer whose determination is as strong as rockwool fiber, the Ministry of Industry is now starting to facilitate the provision of fiscal and non-fiscal incentives by drafting a Ministerial Regulation regarding Mandatory SNI for Sound Absorbing and Fireproof Heat Insulation Materials from Mineral Wool. This means that Indonesia is starting to be able to boost productivity and attract investment in the industrial sector of this mineral wool heat-insulating, sound-absorbing and fire-resistant material.
Being one of the backbones for industrial growth in Indonesia, does not necessarily make Ivan's humility disappear. He is still friendly and often meets younger students at his campus alma mater. Just to meet face-to-face and or through virtual meetings at various webinars, share knowledge, and experiences when he was a student.
This polite and easy-going personality is also one of the reasons why Ivan was finally trusted to become the Chair of the IPB Karawang Alumni Association for the period 2021-2025 acclamatively.
In the midst of his busy life, he never seems tired of continuing to innovate. This time Ivan invited the younger generation to get to know the world of horticulture by starting to practice fruit fly control with an attractant of basil oil.
He also does his own horticultural farming business in Ponggang Village, Kec. Serang Panjang, Kab. Subang, West Java with fruit commodities such as durian, avocado, banana and jackfruit. Hopefully his knowledge and efforts will always be beneficial for the younger generation and all agricultural people in Indonesia.
