Flying High as Today's 'Kartini'

Like a bird that likes to migrate, that's roughly the right sentence to describe the career journey of an Alexandra Devy Suradji. Not only for vacation or recreation, this woman who was born in Jakarta, born in Jakarta on April 9, 1970, enjoys traveling to fulfill her responsibilities and professionalism at work. She flies high and has a career visiting various parts of the world.

Graduated as a bachelor at the Faculty of Fisheries, IPB University, Devy then completed his master's degree in environmental management, University of New Haven, United States of America.

Armed with this academic study, Devy was determined to start a career at PT. Surveyor Indonesia for 8 years, 8 months, 8 weeks, and 8 days. Then she joined WWF Indonesia as Director of Marketing and Communication from 2009 to 2016. It did not stop there, Devy served as Special Staff to the Minister of SOEs in 2017 as well as Commissioner of PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk in the same year.

The experience of migrating during his career has further shaped Devy as a true aviator. She now serves as Director of Marketing and Services of PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero), based on the Decree of the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Number SK-289/MBU/12/2017 with the assignment to improve the company's services and marketing.

Even though she doesn't have a foundation in aviation, the most important thing for Devy in her current position is how to make someone become more comfortable at the airport and willing to come. She also wants to make passengers feel satisfied and happy with the services and facilities provided.

So as a Director of Marketing and Services, she sees that what PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) currently needs is not from the point of view of an aviator, but from the point of view of a passenger like herself.

Devy's hard work was finally proven, she was named the Top 40 Public Relations (PR) Person 2020 in the Iconomics Indonesia PR Person Award 2020 organized by Iconomics Research and Consulting.

A number of other awards were also achieved, thanks to the many breakthroughs that have occurred since Devy's presence as director of the state-owned company. One of them, under Devy's leadership, the determination of wages for PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) employees began to no longer be based on gender.

Wages are given solely based on the performance and achievements of each employee. Currently, gender discrimination is no longer even the basis in the employee recruitment process. According to Devy, female leadership can also give a more positive aura in a company.

Even though Devy's career is flying brilliantly, it doesn't necessarily make her arrogant and forgetful. Being a leading figure in the field of airport services, does not make Devy forget to always maintain a balance between career and family.

Instead, she emphasized that outside the home women should be able to work as well as possible, but she is still a wife who must follow her husband as her priest and play a role as a mother who brings love to her children.

These principles form Devy in interpreting women's emancipation. For her, being Kartini means being a woman who cannot be outdone by men. Women must also be able to prove that they have the same capacity and ability, without having to forget the nature of a family.
