True Intellectuals Must Write Productively

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ali Ramdhani, S.TP, M.T or who is often called Prof. Dhani is the Director General of Islamic Education (Dirjen Pendis) of the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag), Republic of Indonesia. He was inaugurated on August 10, 2020 by the Minister of Religion, Fachrul Razi at the H. M. Rasjidi Auditorium, Ministry of Religion Office Jalan M. H. Thamrin, Jakarta.

Prior to serving as Director General of Education at the Ministry of Religion, Prof. Dhani was the Postgraduate Director of UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung. He also briefly served as Deputy Secretary General of the Central Leadership of the Nahdlatul Ulama Student Association (PP IPNU) during the solemn period of 1996-2000.

Prof. Dhani received his undergraduate education from the Department of Agricultural Industrial Technology, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, IPB University in 1995. After graduating, he continued his postgraduate and doctoral education program at Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB).

The man who was born in Garut, November 6, 1971 is the grandson of KH. Anwar Musaddad, the first Chancellor of UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung. His scientific traces have been inherited by his grandfather. His mother, Prof. Hj. Umm Salamah, MS, is the son of Prof. KH. Anwar Musaddad and Hj. Atikah Kutubi. Prof. Umm is a professor at Pasundan University in Bandung, Chair of the Garut Musadaddiyah Foundation, and Chair of the Garut University Board of Trustees (UNIGA).

While his father Prof. Cecep is an academic, and a DPR/MPR politician. Looking at his family tree, it is not surprising that Prof. Dhani devoted himself to the world of education. In terms of intellect, he is indeed very proud of.

Prof. Dhani is known as a very productive person in writing journals. He is also diligent in writing and publishing his scientific works in accredited and internationally reputed journals.

There have been 117 articles indexed by Scopus with a total citation of 1,033 documents and an h-index of 21 documents. Since 2015, his writings have been cited 2,908 times and the number is likely to continue to grow. In 2018, Prof. Dhani was named the author of scientific articles with the highest Sinta Score in the category of religious higher education.

It is a very proud achievement. According to him, true intellectuals are those who are fond of literacy, both reading and writing. In 2006, this author of the book “Needs Analysis of Monitoring and Evaluation Systems for Research and Scientific Publications” was inaugurated as a Professor at UIN Sunan Gunung Jati, Bandung when he was 34 years old. The age is still very young to get the title of Professor in Indonesia.

Prof. Dhani is very professional in carrying out every task. He is guided by always providing the best service to the community. Prof. Dhani is expected to be able to provide a bright color in the world of Islamic education in Indonesia.

Islamic education that is able to give birth to a superior Islamic generation, has Pancasila character, has an archipelago culture, is adaptive to the times, and spreads Islamic teachings that are rahmatal lil Alamin. Everything he carried out for the progress of the Indonesian nation and state, especially in terms of Islamic education.
