Balancing the World of Business and Being an Activist
Graduated from the Biology study program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of IPB University, Neneng Herbawati, actually succeeded as a journalist as well as a businesswoman in the field of public relation. Moreover, this mother of three also devotes herself to defending women's rights.
Not only known as a businesswoman in the field of public relation, Neneng is also a women's activist. She always voices women's rights in Indonesia.
In terms of her professional career, this senior journalist is the former Chief Editor of Bisnis Indonesia Daily. She started her career there in January 1991. Initially, she served as a Research and Development Specialist, then in 1994 as a reporter until 1997. In early January of 1997, Neneng's career rose and she has been serving as an Assistant Editor until 2000.
Successfully becoming an Assistant Editor, she was then trusted to become an editor. And in 2008, she succeeded in serving as Managing Editor at PT. Jurnalindo Aksara Graphics – Indonesian Business Economic Daily. Her career is considered great that she has experience there for 20 years and 7 months.
She also had a career in Idea Group from July 2011 to 2015. There, Neneng served as Marketing Director and had the opportunity to become the CEO of Idea Group.
Neneng is also included in the list of the Jokowi-Ma'aruf Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidates for the 2019's Presidential Election (Pilpres) and she held the position of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics' Task Force or Social Media Team along with Romanus Sumaryo, Miss Evita, and Ridwan Habib.
Apart from being a business owner of a public relation PT. Kreasi Karya Igico atau yang biasa dikenal dengan IGICO, Neneng juga merupakan seorang penulis dari Catatan Perjalanan Hipmi (3 Tahun untuk Selamanya), JK Ensiklopedia, Ahok di Mata Mereka, dan TGB Nomics.
Not only being a housewife, her presence in the world of politics is also quite important. Neneng was once a member of the media team in the Ahok Campaign. She had a big role and played a role as a brake on Ahok during the campaign. Acting as a women's activist as well as being the owner of IGICO does not necessarily make Neneng forget her role as a mother and wife. As shown on her Instagram account, Neneng is able to work and enjoy moments with her family at the same time.
